FOR MAYOR

BOB KLUG

CANDIDATE FOR TINY TOWNSHIP MAYOR

Dear residents,
As a candidate for "Mayor", you may wish to know my response on the following issues.

1- I am opposed to amalgamation but I believe in working with our neighboring municipalities to deliver the highest level of service possible at the lowest possible price.

2- The township should look at a Ward System because Tiny is such a large area to campaign and communicate with when representing the area.

3- The Parking Strategy has not been well designed and needs to be looked at by the stake holders with representation by a member of council.

4- The parking strategy at Balm Beach should also be examined with a vision of what Balm Beach should "look like" in 10 to 20 years. Plans for commercial, recreational traffic patterns and long range parking should all be addressed.

5- Contract staff works well where you have a particular project where that expertise is not available "in house" or your staff is too busy with more pressing matters. Tendering helps to measure and evaluate the project and its viability.

6- The beaches in Tiny are one of its most valued treasures and should be managed by the Township so that all might enjoy. This requires an agreed upon memorandum of understanding of all the rules. It also requires people respecting other peoples' beach front whether they own to the water edge or to the high water mark. Having said that, some beaches are more suited for just the immediate neighborhood while others should be developed with long range planning to accommodate the in-land residents. Parking, washrooms, litter containers and more should all be addressed.

It is my wish to develop the true potential of Tiny Township and earn it the respect of all levels of government.

Tiny Township needs a fresh new approach to serving its residents: marketing to develop a sustainable level of 4-season tourism, support and encouragement for our farm community and an overall “open for business” attitude.

Let’s stop the articles back and forth in local papers, which does no good to the Township. It creates confusion and discord and does not promote a climate of friendship and harmony, which is very important for commercial and residential investment and growth to happen.

Please allow me to work with you to make good positive changes in the service delivery whether it be recreation or road improvements, water system maintenance or garbage collection, we will review and refine the system.

Qualities needed to get the job done:

1. Be a good listener

2. Get all the information available

3. Decide with council if it is reasonable

4. Be aware of the following: Does it benefit all or some? Is it affordable? Is it cost effective in the short and long term? How? When? Why? * Most importantly, “keep the public informed during all steps along the way!”

5. Set a time frame and a financial plan to get to where you want to be in the project.
